Aspire to be a CEO? This May Be Just the CU For You

MINOT, N.D.–Those aspiring to lead a credit union are being encouraged to apply for the CEO position at the $165-milion Aspire Credit Union.

According to the Dakota Credit Union Association, Aspire CU is seeking an “energetic and experienced CEO to oversee all aspects” of its operations.

Duties and responsibilities for the position include:

  • Manage overall operations, resources, and organizational structure
  • Plan, recommend and implement programs and policies
  • Maintain continuing appraisal of the general economic environment, anticipate changes in the economy as they may affect money management
  • Review and ensure accuracy of all credit union financial, statistical, and accounting records
  • Establish controls to ensure books of account, records and member accounts are maintained in accordance with credit union policy and procedures
  • Plan, organize and staff the credit union to accomplish the objectives of the organization
  • Develop and maintain proper internal environment to ensure maximum efficiency in implementing and maintaining policies and procedures for effective member relations.

What It Will Take to Succeed

The association said those who will succeed in the position will provide friendly, courteous, member service with a positive attitude, will process transactions accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and will ask questions and employ listening and communication skills effectively to uncover member needs and make referrals to appropriate contacts, among other skills.

Additional Requirements

Requirements for the position include financial and lending knowledge, with an understanding of diverse business functions and performance management, proven experience as CEO or other managerial position with organizational and leadership skills and excellent verbal and written communication and public speaking skills, among other attributes.
