JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — As VyStar Credit Union continues to restore services after its online and mobile banking solutions crashed during a conversion, many members continue to vent frustrations in local media while local CUs are reporting increases in membership as a result.
The outage occurred on May 14 and the $12.3-billion credit union has been scrambling to return service to members ever since, rolling out various pieces of functionality since that time, as CUToday.info has been reporting.
Small business owner Daisy Dietrich told ActionNewsJax.com the outage has been affecting impacting every part of their business.
“It has been very difficult to get anything done. And even more so when you go to any VyStar location, the lines are extraordinarily long,” Dietrich told the news outlet. “As not only a business owner but a single mom, I don’t always have time to wait in line for these long periods of time.”
Frustrations such as those expressed by Dietrich had some members telling ActionNewsJax.com they are considering other financial options.
“I’m thinking about switching banks for business accounts,” the news outlet quoted one member as saying.
Action News Jax said it contacted VyStar CU regarding how many members have closed out memberships, but said the credit union did not provide any data.
Local CU Reports Increase
According to ActionNewsJax.com, some local North Florida credit unions are reporting they are seeing a difference in member sign-ups. A Community First Credit Union spokesperson told the news outlet they don’t keep track of the numbers, but they have seen a significant increase in new members.
Navy Federal Credit Union also declined to provide any information on new member sign-ups since the VyStar CU system failure, but the Action News Jax reporter said several people interviewed had indicated the world’s largest CU would be their choice should they look to move.
“If they can’t get it together in the next short amount of time I’ll be forced to change financial institutions,” ActionNewsJax.com quoted another member as saying.
