MONTGOMERY, Ala.—Guardian Credit Union last week handed members $750,000 in a “Cash Back” year-end bonus.
The $321-million CU has now given back to its members more than $3.75 million over the past four years, paid out via interest rebates and dividend bonuses.
Tens of thousands of members received money back last week, some with checks as large as $1,000, the CU said.
In a released statement Guardian said the rebate was possible due to the credit union’s positive financial results throughout the year, “which is largely based on member relationships and their loyalty.”
“We are grateful for the member’s trust and loyalty they give us each and every day with their finances,” said CEO Heath Harrell. “We are excited to once again be able to provide this cash backbonus to our deserving members. We understand that in today’s financial marketplace great service and free products do not necessarily set us apart from others in the industry.”
