As Congress Eyes Tax Legislation, CUs Monitor Developments In Legal Challenge From Ousted NCUA Board Members

WASHINGTON— Congress is back in session this week, and tax legislation tops the agenda for the House Ways and Means Committee—but credit unions will be paying close attention to developments in the legal challenge from dismissed NCUA board members Todd Harper and Tanya Otsuka.

Two deadlines in the former board member’s legal battle are approaching. As CUToday.info reported, Wednesday is the deadline for defendants to file their opposition to the lawsuit and May 12 is the deadline for the plaintiffs’ reply.

America’s Credit Unions said it is monitoring the lawsuit while advocating to Congress and the administration for an independent NCUA led by a full, bipartisan, three-member board. ACU has an FAQ document available online, with ongoing updates.
