NEW ORLEANS–An employee of an armored truck company was shot and killed during an apparent armed robbery outside a credit union branch here. New Orleans Police say an employee with Loomis was fatally wounded at a drive-through ATM of Campus Federal Credit Union at 2200 Tulane Ave.
The name of the Loomis guard was not released by police.
Police reported arriving at the scene at 4:34 p.m. The Loomis guard was rushed to University Medical Center for treatment for what police said were multiple gunshot wounds.
According to the New Orleans Police Department, two Loomis employees were servicing the ATM when they were approached by two unknown suspects. Police declined to say whether any money was taken. Police also declined to say whether the shots that were fired included shots by the Loomis guards.
Witnesses told police they saw two people running from the scene.
This is the second time a Loomis armored truck employee has been killed in New Orleans in the last three and a half years. Hector Trochez, a Loomis guard, was killed in December of 2013.
