Another CU Hit by Thieves Pulling ATM from Moorings

SAGINAW, Mich.–Another credit union has been hit by a physical attack on an ATM.

According to police, a thief or thieves outfitted a stolen truck with a golden chain to yank an ATM from its moorings at United Financial Credit Union. When police arrived the culprits were gone and their truck was left behind, Mlive.com reported.

According to Saginaw Township Police, the incident was reported about 3 a.m. Officers responded to the location after an ATM burglar alarm was tripped, Mlive reported.

“They arrived to find an ATM from the middle drive-thru lane had been torn free. It lay on the pavement with its door broken open, an unknown amount of cash taken from within,” the report stated. “Nearby was a tan Ford F-250 pickup truck, still idling in the lot. A gold chain ran from the ATM to the truck’s tow hitch, Brooks said.

Scattered Debris

Mlive.com reported there was debris scattered along the lot and the police recovered two prybars, Brooks added.

Police soon determined the F-250 had been reported stolen out of Genesee County’s Mundy Township, Mlive stated.

No arrests have been made.
