PHILADELPHIA–Tim Anderson, president/CEO of GPO FCU in Washington, D.C., has been elected as the new chairman of the African-American Credit Union Coalition.
Anderson succeeds Lynette Smith, president/CEO, Washington Gas Light FCU, who completed a two-year term. After having served as treasurer, Anderson will now become the eighth chairman of the AACUC.
"I am humbled by your confidence, yet excited to get to work on some new initiatives I believe will build upon the work we've already accomplished as an organization.
Also during the AACUC’s annual meeting here the membership elected one new board member, Adrian S. Johnson, SVP and CFO of MECU of Baltimore, and re-instated incumbents Timothy L. Anderson and Tonita Webb, chief administrative officer, both of Seattle Metropolitan Credit Union.
In addition to Anderson, also elected as executive officers were Mark S. Brantley, a board member with Municipal CU of New York, as vice chairman; Tonita Webb as secretary; and Adrian S. Johnson as treasurer. Additional board directors include: Helen Godfrey Smith, president/CEO of Shreveport FCU; Sheilah Montgomery, president/CEO (retired) of Credit Union of Atlanta; Ed Presnell, SVP of administration for SRP FCU; Smith of Washington Gas Light FCU; Maurice Smith, president/CEO of Local Government FCU; and Barbara Stephens, president/CEO (retired) of Houston Metropolitan FCU as board director emeritus.
