LAS VEGAS–The CUNA Technology Council has named the winners of its Excellence in Technology Awards.
The awards, announced during the Council’s annual meeting here, seek to recognize outstanding approaches to technology challenges with potential for universal application across the credit union movement.
According to the Council, the winners for 2016 are:
- BCU in Vernon Hills, Ill. won for “Project Prioritization and Alignment.” The winning entry addresses capacity management, demand management, financial management, project execution, consistent communication, training, and reporting.
- Digital FCU in Marlborough, Mass. (submitted by SMA Solutions, Kingwood, Tex.) won for “Digital FCU’s Deployment of Ascern, a predictive analytics tool from SMA Solutions.” By the tool, Digital FCU was able to improve customer service by proactively identifying system maintenance events before they were member impacting.
- Gesa CU in Richland, Wash. (submitted by Fiserv, Brookfield, Wis.) is being awarded for “Palm Vein Authentication Project [Info Security/Privacy].” The palm verification solution provides a fast, secure, easy and contactless experience. The solution has been met with the resounding approval of Gesa’s members with a 99.9% of its surveys giving the solution a 5-star rating.
- University of Michigan CU in Ann Arbor, Mich., won for “Virtual Branch Strategy.” University of Michigan CU developed a creative virtual branch solution that allowed the credit union to offer a branch-like alternative with no staff and placed in minimal space.
- WSECU in Olympia, Wash., won for “Virtual Infrastructure Project (VIP).” To cost effectively support growing needs and their changing security, availability and growth requirements, WSECU re-architected its infrastructure from the ground up to be 100% virtualized and configured around each of application’s specific requirements.
