American Eagle Marking 80th With New Name, Charter

EAST HARTFORD, Conn.—American Eagle Federal Credit Union is marking its 80th anniversary with a new state charter and a new name as American Eagle Financial Credit Union.

The CU said the charter conversion reflects an expanding field of membership to include 862,000 residents of New Haven County, Conn. Its total FOM encompasses 2.1 million residents or 58% of the state’s population, in Hartford, Middlesex, Tolland, and New Haven counties.

“Our expanded presence will create opportunities for continued growth and enable the residents of New Haven County to take advantage of American Eagle’s wide selection of financial products and services,” said President/CEO Dean Marchessault. “This expansion will also allow us to enhance convenience and economies of scale to existing members throughout our field of membership,” added Marchessault.

The $1.4-billion American Eagle Financial Credit Union has 105,000 members and was founded in 1935 by employees of Pratt & Whitney Aircraft.
