JACKSON, Mich.–American 1 Credit Union has purchased land at 900 N. Cooper Street here to be the home of its corporate operations.
The 23,000-square-foot building, previously home to Elara Caring, will accommodate the growth of the $692.8-million American 1, according tot he credit union, which has recently opened two new branches and announced plans for three more in the next year.
“We’re excited to expand our corporate operations to meet the growing needs of our organization,” President and CEO Martha Fuerstenau said in a statement. “This new building will enable us to cater to our team in the best way possible, providing room for current and future expansions. It also allows us to continue to focus on building uncomplicated and convenient banking that is easily accessible for all.”
Operations to Move
American 1 Credit Union said it is planning to move its corporate operations to 900 N. Cooper Street in late 2025, following the completion of renovations. The credit union’s location at 718 E. Michigan Ave. will remain the home office and will continue to provide banking services. The new Cooper Street location will not offer retail banking services.
American 1 has approximately 65,000 members.
