America’s Credit Unions Urges Feedback On IRS, NCUA Proposals

WASHINGTON--Recent America's Credit Unions Regulatory Commentalerts encourage credit unions to submit feedback on several active regulatory proposals, the trade group reminded.

America’s Credit Unions added that it is also accepting comments on the proposals.

The organization said it will use that feedback in its own comment letters filed with the agencies.

IRS excise tax on remittance transfers
Implements the H.R. 1 excise tax on remittance transfer providers and provides rules and definitions on certain remittance transfers that occur after Dec. 31, 2025, to which the 1% excise tax applies.

  • Comments are due to America’s Credit Unions by May 29 and to the IRS by June 12.

NCUA bank conversions and mergers proposal
The proposal would make it simpler for credit unions to merge into banks by removing overly prescriptive formatting requirements, simplifying the process of notifying members, and eliminating duplicative guidance.

  • Submit comments to America’s Credit Unions by June 8 and to NCUA by June 22.

NCUA streamlining data collection request for information
NCUA is soliciting feedback on the key challenges faced by federally insured credit unions and any suggestions to enhance the data collection process and potentially reduce burden.

  • Comments can be sent to America’s Credit Unions through June 9 and are due to the NCUA by June 23
