Amazon Will No Longer Accept Venmo as a Payment Method

SEATTLE—Amazon said effective Jan. 10, 2024, Venmo will no longer be accepted as a payment method.

This change affects customers who use Venmo to pay for their subscriptions on Amazon, according to Opp. Today. However, alternative payment methods like credit and debit cards, checking accounts, and Venmo’s own debit and credit cards can still be used to make purchases on the online retail platform, the report stated.

“It’s a major shift for Venmo users who have become accustomed to the convenience of using the popular cash app for their online transactions,” Opp.Today stated. “Amazon’s decision to exclude Venmo as a payment option may leave some users in search of new payment methods for their subscriptions and purchases.”

‘Update Your Payments Method’

In an email to its customers, Amazon urged them to update their payment methods accordingly, directing them to the “Your payments” section on their account page. The change will allow “customers to seamlessly transition to an alternative payment option without any disruptions to their shopping experience,” according to the report.
