Amazon Prime Day had Amazingly Prime Results for One CU’s Cards

EAST LANSING, Mich.— MSU Federal Credit Union is reporting its Amazon Prime Day card promotion helped drive a record $856,000 in transactions on its cards.

There were 19% more transactions this year than during the 2018 promotion, surpassing the promotion’s goal of 15%. In addition, more than 10,280 members used their cards during Prime Day hours, the credit union said in a statement.

“Amazon Prime Day has become a big cyber sales event each year, and we are pleased our members take advantage of the great deals offered,” said Deidre Davis, MSUFCU’s chief marketing officer, in the statement. With our Amazon Prime Day promotion, we encouraged members to use their debit and credit cards by offering them the chance to win a $250 gift card.”

As CUToday.info reported here and here, both PSCU and CO-OP Financial Services reported credit unions with Amazon Prime Day tie-ins also saw record volumes.

Prizes Offered

MSU FCU’s promotion offered members an opportunity to win gift cards for using their MSUFCU Visa Debit or Credit Cards on Amazon Prime Day, which this year took place on July 15-16, 2019. The credit union encouraged card-holding members to learn about and responsibly use their debit and credit cards while also offering prizes. At the end of the promotion, one MSUFCU member who used a MSUFCU Debit Card and another one who used a MSUFCU Credit Card during Amazon Prime Day were randomly selected to each receive a $250 gift card.
