NAPERVILLE, Ill.—The fifth winner in Alloya Corporate FCU’s “10 for 10 for 10” initiative has been named: Best Buddies International.
As CUToday.info has reported, Alloya is celebrating its 10th anniversary, which falls on Oct. 24, by donating $10,000 to 10 charities over 10 days.
Best Buddies International was nominated by Prairieland Federal Credit Union in Normal, Ill. Best Buddies is a nonprofit organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, leadership development, and inclusive living for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
“Prairieland Federal Credit Union says Best Buddies is ‘dear to their hearts’ and nominated the charity due to the credit union’s firm belief in inclusion for all. Several members of Prairieland Federal Credit Union have children, grandchildren or another loved one with a disability. Best Buddies creates opportunities for these children to make friends, participate in activities, gain employment and have an overall sense of normal life. In addition, Best Buddies raises awareness and compassion for people with developmental disabilities,” Alloya said.
Prairieland Federal Credit Union serves over 7,000 members in the Bloomington-Normal, Ill., communities.

The Selection Process
The 10 for 10 for 10 charity nomination and selection process is being driven by Alloya’s 1,400 credit union members, the corporate said. In total, credit unions nominated 101 charities between Sept. 27 and Oct. 8. In the days leading up to its 10-year anniversary, Alloya is announcing the winners of its charitable donation program through a daily announcement at 10:00 am CT on its website at www.alloyacorp.org/winyour10. In addition, CUToday.info will also announce each day’s winner. The program concludes on Monday, Oct. 25.
