Alleged Credit Card Crook Had His Own Meme

GLENDALE, Wis.—Two people here have been charged in what prosecutors have called a bold counterfeit credit card operation. Indeed, one of the suspects even created his own scam artist meme.

According to prosecutors,

and Valentina Knight, both 29, were behind a complicated credit card scam in which they could turn plastic cards into instant cash by using stolen identities.

"It is sophisticated," Milwaukee County prosecutor David Robles said.

"They can essentially manufacture a credit card in anyone's name, using any identity," said Robles, according to WISN.com.

While Dioubate and Knight were charged in Wisconsin, their scheme was busted in Las Vegas, after they pulled up to a branch of Educators Credit Union in a rented black Cadillac, with a goal of picking up a credit card they'd requested online.

However, an alert employee of ECU became suspicious and called police, who soon discovered the couple were carrying several cards in different names.

In addition, police said, Dioubate's computer contained blank credit card templates and an internet meme in which he dubs himself a "professional credit card fraud artist."

Both are currently in jail in Las Vegas, where they were busted for using their homemade credit cards to check in to the Bellagio Hotel. The couple will be extradited to Wisconsin once the Nevada prosecution is complete.
