PLANO, Texas—The Cornerstone Credit Union League has announced the agenda for its 2019 Women's Leadership Conference, including an exclusive panel session called "Backwards in High Heels: Navigating the Pathway to Leadership," which aims to tackle not only the road to leadership, but also barriers to empowerment, such as sexist behavior.
The meeting is scheduled for June 20-22 at the new Marriott Hotel in Allen, Texas.
“Credit unions strive to lead the pack on diversity and inclusion issues, and while credit unions have the will and wherewithal to lead in that arena, we know we can't celebrate true success until the barrier issues are resolved,” the Cornerstone league said.
The Panelists
Panelists speaking to the meeting will include Teresa Freeborn, CEO of Xceed Financial Credit Union; Jill Nowacki, CEO of Credit Union League of Connecticut; and Rachel Pross, chief risk officer for Maps Credit Union. James Pogue, Ph.D., multigenerational intelligence and diversity/inclusion expert, will moderate. “Each of the three panelists has spoken out about diversity and inclusion, so the session promises to be lively,” the CCUL said.
A LinkedIn post by Pross on sexism she encountered during CUNA’s GAC was featured in CUToday.info here.
‘Fostering Excellence’
“This acclaimed women-centric conference is designed to foster excellence in rising and accomplished women leaders across the credit union movement and features system experts and successful national figures who share wisdom, insights, and strategies designed to motivate and inspire long-term personal growth, balance, and professional development,” the Cornerstone league said. “Men who are champions for the advancement of women are welcome! We are stronger together!”
The CCUL added that those who Register by May 30 will receive a personalized leadership assessment from Lumina Spark, a firm that provides highly interactive experiences in which learners explore who they are through a psychometric profile tool called Lumina Portrait.
