ALEXANDRIA, Va.–With funding for the federal government set to run out on Sept. 30 unless Congress comes to an agreement, NCUA sent a statement to its employees reminding it will not be affected.
The agency is reminding it is not subject to the annual federal appropriations process, and as a result will continue to operate in the event of a federal government shutdown and that employees should continue to report for duty under their normal work.
The agency told its staff it does not expect any interruption in pay, benefits, and other reimbursements—such as for travel costs—to employees, contractors, or vendors.
‘No Adverse Impact’
“At the present time, we do not anticipate any adverse impact on the agency’s operations. The NCUA does rely on other federal agencies, which may be impacted by a shutdown, for services, such as payroll and benefits,” NCUA stated. “Based on our inquiries to these supporting agencies, they are prepared to continue providing services to us if there is a shutdown. We remain in close contact with all our federal agency partners and will take measures within our control to ensure our transactions continue to be processed.”
