RIVERWOODS, Ill.—Discover Financial Services has relaunched its debit/checking account service.
CEO Roger Hochschild called it a “soft launch” and didn’t specify when that occurred, Payments Dive reported.
The company said plans to gradually ramp up marketing of the service, “and probably support it with mass media towards the back half of the year,” Hochschild said. “The product is now out there and available.”
Discover Financial Services stopped taking applications for its checking account last year after encountering too much fraud with the service, Hochschild said in 2022. The company then shelved the product, which came with a debit card offering cashback rewards, just months after revamping it in April 2022, according to Payments Dive.
