WARREN, Ark.–After 49 years in credit unions, Dwayne Ashcraft, president/CEO of Arkansas Superior FCU, said he will retire at the end of January 2022. A successor has been named.
Ashcraft started with Arkansas Superior FCU (formerly PFI Employees FCU) on Feb. 1, 1973, and made many contributions to the credit union movement in the ensuing years, including being inducted into the Arkansas Credit Union Hall of Fame in 2013, said the Cornerstone CU League, which was first to report the retirement.
While CEO, Ashcraft has overseen asset growth from $300,000 to $89 million and membership growth to 10,500 from 500.
According to the Cornerstone league, Ashcraft served on the Arkansas Credit Union League board of directors for approximately 18 years and as its chairman for another 10 years. He was involved in the creation of the Cornerstone League—which serves Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas–and on whose inaugural board Ashcraft served on for two years. All total, he served on both boards for 30 years, the CCUL said.
‘A Lot of Changes’
“I have seen a lot of change and been involved in many efforts to preserve the credit union movement and its tax exemption,” Ashcraft told the CCUL. “Through these 49 years, I have made a lot of friends in the credit union movement. My success was the result of their help and encouragement. I feel confident that Arkansas Superior FCU and the credit union movement have a very bright future.”
Arkansas Superior has named Greg Morman to succeed Ashcraft.
“Greg has had the opportunity to become familiar with the credit union before I leave,” Ashcraft told the association. “With the steps that have been taken, I am sure that it will be a smooth transition.”
