After Lightning Strike, Where Staff Smelled Smoke There Was Fire

SIDNEY, N.Y.–The fire department here had to put out a fire at Sidney FCU here after lightning struck the structure.

According to WBNG, when workers arrived at work early on Monday morning they smelled smoke and called the fire department. The Sidney Fire Department responded and used thermal imaging to detect hot spots. Firefighters then cut into the roof of the building to put the fire out. The building did sustain minimal water damage, WBNG reported.

The credit union is expected to re-open today.
