SEATTLE—The biggest player in online shopping is also making a big move in the mobile shopping space.
Amazon, easily the largest online shopping site in the world, is increasing its lead in mobile shopping by a big margin, reported Business Insider, citing Oppenheimer data.
Amazon has tripled the number of U.S. unique visitors to its mobile app over the past two years.
Amazon’s biggest competitors like Walmart, eBay, and Target, saw almost no growth in the same time span, Business Insider reported.
“On top of that, Amazon's mobile app is increasing its penetration rate in the U.S., with 50% of U.S. online shoppers now on its app,” the publication stated, adding that mobile commerce sales will reach $284 billion, or 45% of the total U.S. e-commerce market, by 2020—up from $33 billion, or 11% of the total U.S. e-commerce market in 2014.
The developments come at the same time the company has also introduced an Amazon Prime credit card, as CUToday.info reported here http://cutoday.ssd.thinkcreativeinternal.net/Fresh-Today/Amazon-Introduces-Attractive-Amazon-Prime-Card
