After Earthquake, One Alaska CU Branch Remains Closed

EAGLE RIVER, Alaska–All branches of Denali FCU here have re-opened following the magnitude 7.0 earthquake, with the exception of one branch here located inside a Carrs store.

Overall, Denali FCU, a division of Huntington Beach, Calif.-based Nuvision Credit Union, said its other 13 offices and 20 ATMs in Alaska are up and running normally.

The Eagle River Carrs branch, however, “suffered enough damage in the earthquake to remain closed,” the credit union said. It is updating members using its Facebook page and Twitter. Members who typically use the Eagle River branch are being directed to two other locations approximately 10 miles away. Members are also being reminded that online and mobile options remain available.

or financial information.

“The Denali team has done a remarkable job to assess the damages, determine that structures are sound and assure that team members can physically get to their locations,” said Nuvision CEO Roger Ballard, who traveled to Anchorage from California over the weekend to provide support. “This was a significant team effort and we appreciate all that has been done to ensure that the credit union will be open to assist our members.”

As CUToday.info earlier reported here, some other CUs also closed offices over the weekend due to power outages.
