WASHINGTON–As busy as was last week with hearings on Capitol Hill of interest, this week is equally slow. And that largely goes for the legislative process itself, as well.
The House is considering a number of bills, including one related to providing funding to restaurants that were hard hit during the pandemic, as well as some other various funding bills.
The Senate will primarily be focused on nominations, particularly that of Ketanji Brown Jackson, the nominee for the Supreme Court.
According to CUNA, there is also an “outside chance” that the nomination of Jerome Powell to lead another term as chairman of the Federal Reserve will be considered.
The House Committee on Financial Services has a hearing set for today on An Enduring Legacy: The Role of Financial Institutions in the Horrors of Slavery and the Need for Atonement.
The same committee, which has a long list of legislation related to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on its agenda, will on Wednesday hold a hearing on The Annual Testimony of the Secretary of the Treasury on the State of the International Financial System.
On Thursday, the Senate Committee on Finance will hold a hearing on ‘The IRS, the President’s Fiscal 2023 Budget, and the 2022 Filing Season,” that CUNA said it will also be monitoring.
