OREGON CITY, Ore. –Advantis Credit Union has officially opened a new headquarters campus that consolidates three administrative sites into one that it said will help “streamline teams and increase collaboration.”
The new facility is a 76,221 square feet campus with three buildings on 12 acres, creating spaces that “contribute to employee health and wellness while fostering the functional needs of an active work environment,” the $1.9-billion Advantis CU said.
Located on a former agricultural nursery site, the campus’ two new buildings reference traditional agrarian shed architecture with a contemporary palette of materials and scale, according to ACU.
The buildings house administrative offices, conferencing spaces, a call center, and a dining commissary.
“North-facing clerestories provide ample daylight in open office areas and public spaces, while limited openings facing east and west minimize low-elevation sunlight glare,” Advantis CU explained. “Using exposed mass timber and CLT instead of applied finishes speaks to the integrity between structure and form. The third structure, designed as a pre-engineered metal building, is more utilitarian in nature and contains facility shops, bike storage and locker rooms, a game room, and flexible event space.”
‘Open Private Event’
In addition, Advantis CU said the three buildings frame a landscaped courtyard that offers various scaled spaces to meet and gather.
“An open green space invites recreational opportunities and provides an area for larger gatherings and events,” the credit union stated. “Pathways for pedestrians and bicycles make the entire site accessible and feed directly into a broader regional system of trails.”
Advantis CU said rooftop photovoltaic panels and sustainable design features that address daylighting, shading, and envelope performance helped the project exceed baseline energy savings goals and perform better than the Energy Trust of Oregon’s Path to Net Zero threshold.
‘Inspiring Environment’
“As we continue to grow and serve our expanding member base, consolidating four separate offices into one location was integral in improving and streamlining resources across the organization,” said Advantis’ President and CEO Jason Werts. “Our new campus creates an inspiring and modern environment that fosters collaboration, creativity, and employee wellness inside and out with ample access to natural spaces and walking trails.”
The credit union said the site has room to accommodate more staff as Advantis CU continues to grow, and is currently home to more than 230 employees.
“While the new campus was constructed at the peak of remote work, it created a wonderful opportunity to engage with employees and create a welcoming and flexible space that they are excited about,” continued Werts. “While we continue to embrace a flexible schedule, we are hearing extremely positive feedback from our employees that they love the new campus. Our employees were instrumental in the design and the selection of amenities to support an engaging balance with the at-home work option.”
Additional Features
According to Advantis CU, additional features of the new campus include:
- Environmental + Health & Well-being Campus Features. “Some environmental features include high-efficiency HVAC, water conservation systems, EV charging stations, recycled building materials, and daylight harvesting techniques to leverage natural light, among others. Health and well-being elements include a new walking loop featuring fitness stations that links into the trail network around Clackamas Community College, as well as a putting green and pickleball/basketball court, among others.”
- Murals by Local Artists. Advantis commissioned local artists from various marginalized communities to create large murals throughout its new campus. Advantis staff also participated in painting some of the murals. See photos here.
Advantis CU has nearly 90,000 members.
