Advantage One CU Names New President and CEO

MORRISON, Ill.–Advantage One Credit Union here has named a new president and CEO.

Michael W. Hemmer

The $25.5-million credit union has selected Michael W. Hemmer to lead the organization.

Hemmer comes to the position with more than 30 years of management, marketing, project management, and technology experience, AOCU reported.

Hemmer’s tenure with AOCU began in 2021 as a member of the board and then as the organization’s loan officer in March of this year.

In an interview with The Editor, Hemmer said his board term expired at the end of February 2022 he applied and interviewed for the president position and was accepted.

Originally known as Morrison General Electric Employees FCU, Advantage One was organized June 2, 1960. Membership was limited to GE Morrison employee families, and in homage to its FOM the name was originally presented as AdvantaGE One Credit Union.

Hemmer’s background includes his current role as city clerk of Morrison. For more than 10 years he has been also been a consultant for international consumer and pharmaceutical companies. Prior to that, he was the owner of InterMark, where he was a marketing and business consultant assisting American, Hungarian, and German companies enter foreign markets, according to The Editor.

Formerly Based in Germany

Hemmer was also project manager for Forum Amerika based in Germany, and held various management positions for more than 15 years at the German American Chamber of Commerce. He began his career at CRC Information Systems, where he served as Systems Manager and Project Director.
