VANDALIA, Ohio—Abbey Credit Union said it is providing assistance to approximately 50 families in the Dayton, Ohio area up to $250 per household for insurance deductible or home repair gift cards following devastating tornadoes here earlier this year.
The 19 separate tornadoes caused insured losses between $465 million and $480 million, according to the Ohio Insurance Institute.
Most of the money provided by Abbey Credit Union is the result of a grant from the Ohio Credit Union Foundation.
“It is truly members helping members,” said Bianca Ortiz, VP-community and business development. “It’s the mission of credit unions in action—we take care of each other and our communities. That’s the credit union way.”
