SOUTH BEND, Ind.–Credit unions and banks across the Midwestern U.S. have been dealing with an outage that has shut down countless ATMs. An issue with a third-party vendor is being blamed for the outages, which have also affected interactive teller machines (ITMs), as well.
Multiple media reports have said among the credit unions affected have been the Indiana-based institutions Everwise Credit Union, Notre Dame Credit Union, Centra Credit Union, FORUM Credit Union, Members Credit Union and others, I addition to numerous banks.
The issue has made it difficult for many members to withdrawal funds. According to the reports, many of the institutions are directing members/customers to use branches or to go to other ATMs and offering to pay any related fees for doing so.
The institutions have also been providing ongoing updates on their websites and through social media. Everwise Credit Union, for example, has an updated list of ATMs on its website, as does Notre Dame FCU.
