YUMA, Ariz.–AEA Federal Credit Union has a new name: Avenir Financial.
“After a detailed strategic process and deep consideration, we came to the decision to undergo a name change,” CEO Adele Sandberg said in a statement. “We are optimistic that this name will help us grow in the communities we know and love and allow our existing and new members to reach their financial goals. Our mission of people helping people is who we are. That will not change with our new name.”
The 33,000-member, $384-million credit union serves both Yuma and La Paz counties in Arizona. It was founded in 1942 to serve employees of the boards of education of public schools in Yuma County.
“With the addition of the San Luis branch in 2023 we are well represented in Yuma County and are looking to expand into other underserved areas,” Sandberg continued.
According to the credit union, the definition of Avenir includes “the future, promise, and bring together.”
New Branding Overseen by Strum
The new name and new branding was handled by the Seattle-based Strum Agency.
“We are very excited that this new name will reflect the credit union’s commitment to serving their community and help their members be more certain about their future and financial goals,” said Strum CEO Mark Weber.
