ADA Bites Into Banking: New Credit Union Targets Dentists’ Financial Health

CHICAGO—The American Dental Association has launched ADA Credit Union, created in collaboration with $6.2-billion BCU, based in Vernon Hills, Ill.

ADA CU, which operates as a division of BCU, offers a range of services, including checking and savings accounts, CDs, auto loans, and free one-on-one financial coaching,

Additionally, to support dental students and early-career dentists, ADA CU offers the DentaFlex Personal Line of Credit—a flexible financial solution tailored to the unique needs of third and fourth year dental students, and those enrolled in a residency program.

This bridge loan offers interest-only payments, helping to ease the financial burden of expenses including board exams, residency program applications, or living expenses during a critical transition period, ADACU said.

“Collaborating with BCU for ADA Credit Union answers a longstanding call from member dentists for the ADA to offer this type of resource, while providing a fitting synergy: just as the ADA belongs to its members, so does their credit union,” said ADA President Dr. Brett Kessler noted.

“We’re honored that the ADA selected BCU to form this collaboration. For decades, we’ve worked with reputable organizations to deliver exceptional value through our member-owned, not-for-profit model. That history—and our commitment to reinvesting profits into creating an extraordinary member experience—makes us uniquely positioned to serve ADA members, their teams, and families. Together, we’re creating a financial resource that reflects the same dedication to credit union member success that the ADA is known for championing for its member-dentists.”
