ACU, AACUL And State Leagues Coordinate 2026 Communications Strategy

WASHINGTON--Collaborating on a wide range of issues affecting the movement, America’s Credit Unions, American Association of Credit Union Leagues (AACUL), and state league communications and engagement staff planned ahead for 2026. Staff from across the country met for an online meeting Dec. 16, to follow up on discussions at the AACUL Winter Meeting earlier this month, ACU reported.

ACU said issues the group intends to tackle in the new year include artificial intelligence, small credit union efforts, best practices in collaborating across departments, statewide awareness campaigns, young professional programs, and sharing insights into what works.

Leagues highlighted plans in sharing a unified message, working together with America’s Credit Unions and AACUL to amplify and highlight the work taking place on the state and federal level, ACU explained.

The group also focused on opportunities to share and reinforce information available for members, including the Small Credit Union Advocacy Advisory Committee. The deadline to make nominations for the committee is Dec. 31.  With ongoing banker attacks underway, the group discussed related researchhandouts, op-eds and other outreach. With an election year approaching, the Credit Unions Vote website is already active online, with more content and promotion material in development to help league staff and credit unions engage, ACU said.

The Defense Credit Union Council on Monday convened its third industry-wide meeting of credit union leaders this year in an effort to align the movement around shared advocacy priorities for the 2026 policy cycle.
