MIAMI, Fla.–University Credit Union has named a new president and CEO.
The $254-credit union has named Albert E. Rose to lead the organization, succeeding Michael J. Welch, who has retired.
Rose had been serving as president of the credit union, after joining UCU in 2019 as EVP and COO. Prior to joining University CU, Rose was VP-lending operations with Dade County FCU.
‘An Immigrant’s Story’
“Being raised in Miami and like many other families in our community, my family story is an immigrant’s story,” Rose wrote in a message to members. “My parents fled Cuba in the late 1950s and eventually made Miami their home. My mother and father instilled in me the values of family, faith and a sense of purpose to serve one’s community. And like our community, your University Credit Union shares the common bond of people helping people and the philosophy to give back to the community.”
Rose is a graduate of Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, and earned the Certified Chief Executive designation from CUES.
UCU has approximately 15,000 members.
