NEW YORK—How much of total U.S. credit card purchases do the major card issuers claim?
More than 60%, according to the big issuers’ latest quarterly earnings reports.
JP Morgan chase leads the pack with nearly 18% market share, Trefis reported. The bank reported total purchase volumes of $545 billion across all credit cards issued by it in the U.S. over 2016.
American Express is second with 11.3% market share. Citigroup (10.8%), Capital One (9.2%), Bank of America (7.4%) and Discover (4.2%) round out the leaders, according to Trefis.
