WASHINGTON—All but one candidate who was backed by credit unions in the 87 primaries that occurred this week in five states were victories, with one race yet to be called according to America’s Credit Unions.
The trade group had backed the candidates in races in Alabama, Arkansas, California, North Carolina and Texas. The race yet to be called involves Rep. David Valadao (R-CA), who had backing from credit unions and the federal and state PAC>
Credit union-supported Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) , who is running for a Senate seat, and Republican Steve Garvey, the former Los Angeles Dodgers player, advanced over Reps. Katie Porter and Barbara Lee in two elections Tuesday: One to see who will run in the upcoming special election to fill the remainder of the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s term, the other to see who will face off in November for election to a full six-year term.
Schiff and Garvey will face off in both elections, ACU noted.
