A+ FCU CEO Kerry Parker Announces Retirement Plans

AUSTIN, Texas–Kerry A.S. Parker, CEO of A+ Federal Credit Union, has announced her retirement effective in mid-2019.

The credit union said it has launched a search for a replacement.

Parker started in credit unions 30 years ago and joined A+ Federal Credit Union (formerly known as Austin Area Teachers Federal Credit Union) as CEO in 1999. During her 20 years of leadership, Parker has overseen growth from $300 million in assets to $1.5-billion in assets, and from 61,000 members to 155,000 members.
During her time as CEO, A+FCU said Parker’s achievements include:

  • Opening five high-school branch locations at Akins High School, Connally High School, Hendrickson High School, San Marcos High School, and Round Rock High School 
  • Establishing the A+ Education Foundation, which has awarded over $834,000 in grants to Central Texas educators 
  • Developing Cash-Back Checking and PlusPoints Member Rewards which gives back over $3 million to members annually 
  • Repeatedly selected as one of Austin’s Top Workplaces 
  • National recognition for financial education programs including First Place in the National Desjardins Award for Youth Financial Education and winner of the Institute for Financial Literacy’s 2014 Excellence in Financial Literacy Education (EIFLE) Award for Children’s Education Program of the Year

Other Career Achievements

During her career Parker was also named Austin Chamber 2017 Education Volunteer of the Year (and also served as a board member and treasurer), served as a committee member for the Austin Chamber Education Council, a board member for the Capitol Area Boy Scouts, was Chair of CUSurance (a Healthcare Insurance Captive), served as a Supervisory Committee member with Catalyst Corporate, and was Chair of the Texas Credit Union Foundation.
