TUCSON, Ariz.–An 80-year-old man has been arrested here in connection with the robbery of a credit union, while the suspected robber of another has been shot and killed.
According to the Tucson Police Department, Robert Francis Krebs was arrested in connection with the robbery of a Pyramid Credit Union here. Police said Krebs was recognized by an employee when he attempted to get a room at a local hotel. He left the hotel before getting the room, police said. Later, the employee identified Krebs from a social media post and notified the authorities.
Police investigators began checking nearby hotels and motels and found Krebs, police said.
According to the Tucson Police Department, Krebs allegedly showed a gun at the PCU branch before asking for money. He was then seen “running from the bank,” with witnesses estimating he was in his early 60s.
Separately, in Montpelier, Vt., a man suspected of a robbery at a branch of Vermont State Employees Credit Union was fatally shot near the bleachers of the Montpelier High School, according to Montpelier police. No officers were reportedly injured in the incident.
Police have not released the suspect’s name.
Police said the robber left with an undisclosed amount of cash to and then walked to the school grounds, leaving money strewn on the floor of the credit union.
