SNELLVILLE, Ga. – The African-American Credit Union Coalition (AACUC) will induct four credit union leaders into its Hall of Fame during a special ceremony on Aug. 16 as part of its AACUC Virtual Annual Conference.
The new inductees are Pier Alsup, Dawn White Brewer, Dan McCue and William “Bill” Porter.
“Pier, Dawn, Dan and Bill are some of our movement’s most essential voices. We are proud to recognize their countless contributions and inspiring leadership.” said AACUC President/CEO Renée Sattiewhite. “The Hall of Fame Ceremony is a longstanding tradition for AACUC. Individually and collectively, the honorees are a true representation of servant leadership in action.”
The Inductees
Pier Alsup
Alsup has over 31 years of experience in the credit union industry. She is currently the chief diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) Officer for Together Credit Union in St. Louis.
“Throughout her tenure in this role, Pier helped drive the credit union’s growth from $260 million in assets to more than $1.55 billion in assets,” the AACUC said. “Having a unique understanding of how to reach a diverse market, Pier evolved to leading the credit union’s strategic community engagement, financial wellness, and DEI efforts.”
Dawn White Brewer
Brewer has been in the financial services industry for 30 plus years, serving 21 of those years in the credit union space.
“She is a trailblazer who began her credit union career at Coco-Cola Credit Union as a teller and graciously advanced to the vice president of marketing,” the AACUC said. “As the VP-marketing, Brewer won several awards and received numerous accolades in her role for being a visionary and having a creative insight.”
Dan McCue
McCue joined Alaska USA FCU in 2009.
“As SVP-corporate elations, he oversees government and public relations, community involvement and engagement, financial education programs and serves as executive director of the Alaska USA Foundation,” the AACUC said, “McCue is committed to his work with nonprofit organization and assists with financial education efforts for children, teens, and young adults, helping to develop a lifetime of financial literacy.”
William Porter
Porter has more than 51 years of experience in the financial services industry.
“He is a true history maker and began his banking career at Citibank, where he rose to the position of vice president and became the first African American to manage branches for the bank,” the AACUC said. “Porter transitioned into the credit union space in 1981 as the president /CEO of Municipal Credit Union (MCU). His extraordinary leadership, vision, and talent, over the span of his 26 years at MCU yielded results of 14 branches, over 500 employees and assets over $1.3 billion.”
