BETTENDORF, Iowa -- Four women from California have been arrested and charged with felonies here after police said they attempted to use a stolen credit card at two credit unions as part of an attempt at identity theft.
According to affidavits filed in Scott County Court, 42-year-old Femi Hill, 37-year-old Jevona Wilson, 28-year-old Brittany Stinson, and 30-year-old Arnette Parker were all arrested in connection with theft and other charges, WQAD reported.
On August 27, Stinson allegedly attempted to take out a $3,200 cash advance from The Family Credit Union using a fake credit card and fake driver's license. She was denied the cash advance because of the fraudulent card, WQAD reported.
One day later, Parker went into a branch of Ascentra Credit Union and tried to use the same cards to withdraw $500. Police were called to the scene and found that the cards belonged to a woman in Georgia who had reported having her identity stolen back in June of 2019, according to the news outlet.
Additional Allegations
In addition, according to the affidavits, two rooms at the Hampton Inn were reserved using those fraudulent cards. Officers got search warrants for them and found multiple bags filled with stolen clothes, WQAD said. Police in Eagan, Minn., also allege the same group stole between $3,000 and $5,000 in clothes from Polo Ralph Lauren several days earlier.
Hill and Wilson have been charged with second-degree theft. Stinson has been charged with two counts of identity theft over $1,000 and unauthorized use of a credit card between $1,000 and $10,000. Parker was also charged with second degree theft, identity theft over $1,000, unauthorized use of a credit card under $1,000 and possession of a fictitious license.
