3 Suspects Arrested After Robbery And Dramatic Car Rollover During Getaway Attempt

LIVONIA, Mich.–Three people are in custody following the robbery of a credit union here that eventually led to a dramatic rollover accident by the alleged getaway car that was captured on police video.

The three suspects — a man and two women — were captured after the accident in the area of M-14 and Ford Road, police said.

One male suspect who was driving the car, jumped out after the rollover and was struck by another vehicle, not a police vehicle, according to the Livonia Police Department spokesman. He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

According to police, a man wearing a mask walked into a branch of Community Financial Credit Union, jumped onto a counter and while holding a pistol announced a holdup. He left on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash and no getaway vehicle was seen, police said.

Livonia Police said that an officer later spotted a man who resembled the robber driving a white car in the area of Farmington and Schoolcraft roads, police said. The driver fled from police westbound on I-96 and traveled to M-14. As the driver tried to exit at Ford Road, he lost control and the vehicle rolled over, police said.

Two guns were also recovered from one of the suspects, police added.

Video of the crash can be viewed here.
