2025 WOCCU Distinguished Service Award Nominations Open

MADISON, Wis.—Nominations are open for World Council of Credit Unions’ (WOCCU) 2025 Distinguished Service Award (DSA), WOCCU announced.

First presented in 1986, the award honors those who have provided outstanding service to credit union development outside their home country, WOCCU said.

“We are looking for individuals or organizations that are making a lasting contribution to the international credit union movement,” said Thomas Belekevich, WOCCU director of member services. “We strongly encourage our member organizations to nominate credit union leaders or institutions that exemplify the international spirit of cooperation and service. There is no other award of this type in the world. 2025 will be an especially important year as we globally celebrate the International Year of Cooperatives.”

Individual recipients are those whose actions have significantly benefited global credit union development, while institutional recipients are organizations that have provided financial or technical assistance to develop international credit union movements and their service infrastructures over an extended period of time, WOCCU explained.

The nomination process is fully digital and can be completed online. Nominations must be made by a WOCCU member organization or a credit union affiliated with a member organization by March 7, 2025.

Recipients will receive a free registration to the 2025 World Credit Union Conference, July 14-16, in Stockholm, Sweden, where the winners will be announced and presented their awards.

The DSA is not an annual award but is presented based on the proven achievements and worthiness of candidates, WOCCU said.
