SALT LAKE CITY–Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and Credit Unions for Kids have announced the five winners of the 2016 “Vote for Miracles” promotion.
Over the course of 22 days, almost 300,000 votes were cast for 141 CMN Hospitals, CMN reported. In addition, members representing more than 2,500 credit unions cast votes during the campaign.
Winning the top prize of $50,000 with 43,375 votes was Hurley Children’s Hospital in Flint, Mich. The funds will go directly towards the hospital’s new Pediatric Private Patient Rooms initiative. Once the project is completed, Credit Unions for Kids and CO-OP Financial Services will be recognized with a plaque commemorating the gift, CMN reported.
Adding to the gift was an additional $10,000 gift on behalf of Dr. Alan Klein, a pediatric dentist on staff at Hurley.
Finishing in second place with 37,494 votes and winner of $20,000, was Mercy Health - Children’s Hospital in Toledo, Ohio.
Rounding out the top five were El Paso Children’s in third with 24,622 votes; Children’s Hospital – New Orleans in fourth with 20,664 votes, and Children’s Hospital of Georgia in Augusta, which used a late rally to finish fifth with 18,068 votes, according to CMN. These CMN Hospitals will be awarded $15,000, $10,000 and $5,000 respectively.
“The Vote for Miracles has been a great way to culminate the celebration of the Credit Unions for Kids 20th Anniversary,” said John Lauck, president and CEO, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. “It has allowed us to share our story with a large audience while saluting our credit union partners for two decades of incredible support.”
Designed to engage consumers, #VoteForMiracles saw more than 100,000 people cast votes during the three-week campaign. During the voting process, voters were asked to “Choose their Credit Union.” The credit unions that generated the most votes for the winning hospitals will be announced at a later date and will be invited to participate in the check presentation at their respective hospital in January.
