2 Men Arrested for Allegedly Abducting Member as Part of Robbery Attempt

SPARKS, Nev.–Two men have been arrested here  for allegedly abducting a member of Great Basin FCU and then attempting to force him to withdraw money from the CU.

According to the Sparks Police Department, Antonio Parra, 20, and Anthony James Quinones, 31, are in the Washoe County jail charged with attempted extortion and kidnapping.

Police said late in the afternoon they got a call that there was a person in the GBFCU branch on Los Altos Parkway who was going to rob it using a gun. About the same time a credit union employee called police and said a victim in the bank said a suspect had held a gun to his head, KOLO reported.

“Police found the victim, who said two men forced him into a black Lexus at gunpoint and took him to the credit union so he could withdraw money,” KOLO reported. “Quinones escorted the victim into the credit union and Parra remained in the Lexus. Quinones fled the credit union before police arrived.”

Police said they found the Lexus near the Best Buy in the same parking lot and detained Parra. An hour later officers found Quinones and when police tried to talk to him he ran, but police caught him and took him into custody after a short chase, police told KOLO.
