TAYLORSVILLE, Utah—Two credit unions in this city were robbed within a 10-minute period.
The first robbery occurred at a Mountain America Credit Union office when a man walked into the branch with a black-and-white backpack and handed the teller a note that said he had a gun, Desert News reported.
Credit union staff said a gun was never shown, and the robber fled the office with an undisclosed amount of money. No one was harmed.
Police eventually spotted the robber in the parking lot of a nearby 7-Eleven. The officer held the driver and a passenger until backup arrived and both were taken into custody without incident. Brothers Victor Ramirez, 20, and Jose Ramirez, 23, were arrested, Desert News reported.
Meanwhile, as police arrested the brothers, a man walked into Hercules Credit Union wearing a gray hoodie, sunglasses and a bandana over his face, and demanded money at gunpoint, Desert News reported. The robber, who escaped with an undisclosed amount of money, fled the scene in a gray Chevrolet Silverado, the newspaper stated. No one was harmed.
The two robberies are not believed to be related.
