2 Award-Winning White Papers From Southeast CUNA Management School Now Available

ATHENS, Ga.–Two groups that authored white papers as part of their work at Southeast CUNA Management School have been recognized for their work.

Students in the three-year program worked together in small groups to develop white papers that feature current research, analyses, and proposed solutions for an issue affecting the credit union industry or an opportunity/decision that many credit unions are currently facing or will face in the future, according to SECMS.

During graduation ceremonies, the two groups were honored for their work. Their white papers are now available to read on the SRCUS website.

The papers recognized include:

The Importance of DEI for Credit Union Survival

“For the first time in history, employers face the fortune and challenge of having five generations working together daily,” SRCUS said. “Known for being people-oriented and community-centered, credit unions have an opportunity to embrace America's ‘melting pot’ example by not only recognizing the value and importance of a diverse workforce internally, but to tell that story externally with a focus on diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.”

The white paper was written by Jill Brazzle of

Eagle FCU, Bryttani Graddick of MidSouth Community FCU, Toby King of CapEd Credit Union,  and Joy Smith-Durant, Eagle Federal Credit Union

Ransomware: Is Your Credit Union Ready for It?

“The recent cases of ransomware attacks made visible through the media highlights the need for preparedness and diligence in credit unions,” SRCUS said. “Even the smallest of credit unions have experienced some aspect of cybercrime, stolen data, and identity theft. Are credit unions ready?”

The white paper was authored by Lori Collins of Purdue FCU, Daniel Jordan of Acclaim FCU,  Shari King of Shelby County FCU and Erika Perez, Lion’s Share FCU.
