. . . Some Markets Seeing Double-Digit Price Increases

NEW YORK–Housing prices continue to rise, and some markets are seeing double-digit increases. The S&P/Case-Shiller 20-City Composite Index rose 0.1% in the three months ending in November, for a 5.8% yearly increase. That marked the strongest reading since July 2014.

Markets that are seeing the biggest appreciation include Portland, Ore., which prices were up 11.1% over one year earlier; San Francisco (11%), and Denver (10.9%).

The S&P/Case-Shiller showed 14 cities with stronger yearly price gains in November than in October, 2015.

For Portland and Denver, along with Dallas, the markets all hit new highs. San Francisco’s price increases are on par with a previous high.

Five U.S. markets saw price decreases, down from eight in October, 2015. Chicago was again the weakest market, showing a 0.7% decline. It also reported the smallest yearly gain at 2%.
