ARLINGTON, Va.—A significant number of credit unions continue to participate in the secondary mortgage market, with more than half selling mortgage loans to Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac or both, according to respondents to NAFCU’s latest NAFCU's latest Economic & CU Monitor report

WASHINGTON—NAFCU is urging the Federal Housing Finance Agency to "diligently evaluate" the chattel loan market before it requires Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to decide whether to pursue a pilot program and that it be transparent in implementing such a program.

MADISON, WIS.–The Filene Research Institute is inviting credit union industry leaders to attend a research colloquium tied to each of five Centers of Excellence. Located throughout the country, these day-long events explore in-depth issues affecting credit unions and consumer finance, Filene said.

BELFAST, Ireland–Martin McGuinness, who shared his life story of going from being a commander in the Irish Republican Army to becoming a proponent of peace in that divided country with a gathering of credit unions last summer, has died. Mr. McGuiness, who praised the “ethos of credit unions,” was 66.
